History: The Thermal Man was an atomic-powered robot constructed in Communist China's Atomic Experimental Center a super-weapon against the United States.  As soon as it was activated, it immediately began destroying the laboratory, but a quick blast from a sonic cannon temporarily immobilized it.  The Chinese loaded the robot into a missile and fired it at the United States.  American planes shot it down, but the robot landed on American soil undamaged.  Asgardian adventurers Balder and the Warriors Three assisted the American military in opposing the robot's destructive rampage, and were soon joined by Thor, but even their combined might proved ineffective.  An implosion bomb built by the military managed to halt the robot, but it reactivated itself within minutes to continue its path of destruction, and Balder and the Warriors Three were removed from the battlefield by the sorceress Karnilla, who feared for Balder's life.  Finally, Thor led the robot to a harbor and generated a typhoon which dragged the Thermal Man out to sea, and to the Antarctic, where it was frozen in ice.

The Thermal Man was later revived, and its creator Professor Chen died trying to halt it.  Thor sent it to Asgard's Jotunheim, but it became a pawn of Loki.  It later returned to Earth where Redfield Electronics attempted to reprogram it, only for it to rampage until destroyed by Code:Blue and Thunderstrike.
