THOR AS GALACTUS' HERALD

1st Appearance: What If Thor was the herald of Galactus 2005

When Galactus attacked Asgard, the Asgardians barely managed to hold him off.  But Galactus swore to leave Asgard untouched if Thor would become his herald.  To save his home, Thor agreed and led the World Devourer to planets in habited with only the most fierce and hostile creatures.  When Munin arrived at Galactus' ship with a message that Odin was dead and Asgard in shambles, Thor left to investigate.  When he arrived, he discovered that Loki was in charge and Giants were running amok.  Thor found his hammer Mjolnir, which he had left behind, in the tomb with Odin.  When he picked it up, he became even more powerful, adding his own formidable powers to the Power Cosmic given him by Galactus.  When Loki tried to stop him, Thor informed him of Galactus' arrival.  Thor freed all the Asgardians that Loki had put in the dungeons, and told Balder to lead them all to Midgard.  After they had gone, Thor told Galactus that Asgard was a mockery of what it had once been, and that it was ready for consumption.  Shocked, Loki tried to attack, but with a single blast, Thor reduced him to a charred skeleton.  Afterwards, the Asgardians became heroes on Earth, and Thor returned to his duties as Herald to Galactus.
