Synopsis: Thor
is in the void, dreaming of his past. He is awoken by a voice from
his past, the voice of
Don Blake.
Thor asks him
how this can be, since
Odin had undone
Blake so that he had never existed at
all.
Don tells him that when
Odin and the
rest of the gods were gone, he came back to be.
Don
then goes on to tell him that he is needed, but he has a choice.
He can stay in the void and make his life and legacy a lie, or he can
return to protect mankind. He has broken the cycle of
Ragnarok,
his future is his own now.
Thor asks him, what is there to return
to? All he knew is dead and gone.
Blake
tells him that he's not so sure. Maybe they, and
Asgard,
just need to be re-awakened, like
Thor.
Don
tells him that there are forces that want
Thor to stay asleep, and not return to
the world. Demonic figures rise up out of the ground, and begin to
dog pile Thor.
He fights them off as much as he can, but he is soon overwhelmed.
Just out of reach, Thor
spies Mjolnir
and reaches for it. He grabs hold, and a strike of lightning arcs
down and obliterates the demons.
Thor stands up, garbed in a new
costume, and states that he is
Thor, and he wishes to live! In
Oklahoma, a solitary figure walks along a deserted road, and picks up an
old stick. He goes into a boarding house and rents a room, telling
the woman that he's a doctor, he's got tons of baggage, and he finally
got his ID back.
Blake goes up to his room, and strikes
the cane, summoning a thunderbolt from the sky.

Don Blake
sits enjoying some griddle cakes.
Bill tells him that this is a small town
and they're happy to have him.
Don
then drives out to a deserted stretch of land, and changes to Thor.
Using the power of
Mjolnir, he whips up a massive storm. For the next
week, this storm rages, no one daring to venture into it due to it's
intensity. When he's done,
Asgard stands restored. Thor
walks the halls reminiscing of his past, when two policemen pull up.
They tell Thor
that that he cannot build on that land without ownership and permits.
So Thor, using
Mjolnir
once again, lifts
Asgard so that it hovers just off the
ground. The two cops, full of disbelief, leave. Thor
then goes inside and broods on his people still being gone. The
next morning,
Sam Miller,
the owner of the land, pulls up and tells Thor
that he doesn't want any trouble, and he's willing to sell the land. Thor
tells him to come inside, where he takes
Sam
to the Asgardian Treasury, full of a mountain of gold. He then
tells
Sam
to take as much as he wants then to leave, and never return.
Sam
runs outside and tells his son
Tom
to back the truck up, and they drive off with a truck bed full of gold.
Later that evening, the townsfolk discuss the events, saying that he's a

Thor #3
November 2007
"Everything Old is New Again"
Writer:
J. Michael Straczynski
Artist: Olivier Coipel
Inker: Mark Morales
Letters: Chris Eliopoulos
Colors: Laura Martin
Appearances: Thor,
Iron Man,
Ezra,
Heimdall
Synopsis:
Thor arrives in
New Orleans to begin his quest for the lost gods of
Asgard.
He is not sure why he was drawn there, only that he is left wondering
why none of the other heroes did anything to help. He is immediately
confronted by
Ezra,
a local man, one of the many, who was devastated when Katrina hit.
Forced to watch helplessly has his home was destroyed, and his life torn
apart. He tells Thor
that he should have been there to help, to which
Thor replies that he was dead.
Ezra
tells him he still should have done something, and that he couldn’t save
their past, he must save their future. Then he and the others leave,
telling him to stay out of their way.
Iron Man
then arrives and greets him, telling him they need to talk. He tells
Thor that he’s
glad he’s alive and that he’s been missed, to which
Thor says
nothing. He just continues to stare at
Iron Man.
Iron Man
is wondering why he isn’t saying anything, not even a greeting and says
that they have been friends for a long time, but if
Thor won’t say
anything, then he’ll just get to the formalities. He asks
Thor if he
really thought he could plop
Asgard down right in the middle of
Oklahoma without upsetting everyone all the way up to the White House.
Yes, the land has been properly paid for and technically he owns
it, but they have confirmed that he’s alone up there and they can come
for him anytime they want. He goes on to tell
Thor that there is no middle ground,
you’re either on board and work with the government or you’re against
it. He wants Thor
to sign on with the good guys again and get back to work. With a rumble
in the sky and a lightning strike,
Thor replies. He tells
Tony,
that, yes, things have changed. He’s hunted down those he once fought
beside and called comrades, imprisoned those who opposed him, but that
wasn’t enough. He went a lot further. He took
Thor’s DNA, and without his knowledge
or permission, created a
clone, and abomination, and told the
world that this thing was him.
Thor is fully enraged now, with
lightning striking all around them, with
Thor demanding to know if that is how
Tony
defines friendship.
Iron Man
tells Thor that
he understands he’s upset, but that he doesn’t know the whole story.
Before
Tony
can finish speaking, Thor
strikes him, knocking him several yards away.
Iron Man
replies that he wanted to do this the easy way, and then fires a full
repulsor blast at Thor,
but to no effect.
Iron Man
then charges at Thor,
and Thor knocks
him several blocks away easily, damaging his armor.
Iron Man
tells him that he’s been working out, but
Thor replies no, the only change is
that he’s no longer holding back.
Thor then unleashes a massive lightning
strike that is almost the width of an entire house, hitting
Iron Man
directly, completely frying his armor.
Thor then grabs him by the throat, rips
off his mask, and tells him to give his threats and ultimatums to those
that choose to obey them or that are too scared to fight back, or learn
the difference between a god of thunder, and a mortal man in a metal
suit. He then gives
Tony
a message to give back to his masters, that if any mortal comes to
Asgard
uninvited, on behalf of those who believe themselves in power,
within the hour they will learn what true power is. The skies will open
and the 1st part of the message will be delivered in terms
even the blind could see, flooding DC completely. Anyone attempting to
escape will find the skies even more dangerous. And this will be only
the beginning. He tells
Tony
to deliver this message and remind them of what a god of thunder is, and
what that means. He tells
Tony
that now that his war of brothers is done, he has no interest in
choosing sides, and for the moment he is neutral.
Tony
offers up a solution, to make
Asgard like a diplomatic mission or
embassy, then it, and anyone who lives there would be outside US law.
Thor tells him
that is fine, and that he can go.
Tony
asks how he’s supposed to get back to base with his armor fried, to
which Thor
replies, “walk.” Before they part,
Thor tells him one more thing. For
now, he has more important things on his mind, but they are far from
finished “discussing” his violations of his person, his genetic code,
and what was once a friendship he valued.
Thor walks away and comes across
Ezra
and his niece, and Thor
discovers he’s found what he’s looking for. Two souls joined in sadness
and loss, grief crying out to grief, each trying to protect those they
loved from the end of their world, and being helpless to do anything.
Thor spins
Mjolnir
faster and faster, and pulls the essence of an
Asgardian
out of
Ezra.
Heimdall,
guardian of
Bifrost, lives again. Back and SHIELD headquarters, an
assistant tells
Tony
that his new armor is almost ready, and satellite feeds have confirmed
that there are now two presences on
Asgard.
Heimdall
is now standing watch, to which
Tony
replies that they are just going to let it go.
Significant Events:
1st appearance of
Ezra, return of
Heimdall |

Thor #4
December 2007
"No Borders"Writer:
J. Michael Straczynski
Pencils: Olivier Coipel
Inker: Mark Morales
Letters: Chris Eliopoulos
Colors: Laura Martin
Appearances:
Beth Sooner,
Ernest Lereaux,
Don Blake,
Rolf Mueller,
Leo Kincaid,
Trevor Newly,
Fandral,
Hogun,
Volstagg,
Ibo Abua,
Ngare,
Heimdall,
Mangetu
Synopsis: Dr
Ernest Lereaux has come to the
Sooner Hotel to pick up Dr
Don Blake, to help
Doctors Without Borders. They head to Africa to help the
Mangetu tribe, who are
being attacked by the
Ngare tribe.
Don feels like this is the right thing,
to go where people need him, not wait until they come to him in an office.
Don is introduced to
Rolf Mueller from Berlin,
Leo Kincaid from San Francisco,
and
Trevor Newly from London. All three soldiers were in different parts
of the world, but signed up simultaneously and all three requested to be
stationed there at Umeme Mungu. As they are talking, a young girl bursts
out of the woods screaming and running towards them.
Don
notices that she is wearing a big coat for such hot weather and shouts a
warning, but it is too late. The explosion throws everyone to the
ground and apparently kills
Dr
Lereaux who had been running to help her. Using the distraction, the
Ngare
tribe strike, and begin cutting down as many as they can find. The three
guards stand their ground and fight back, but they are outnumbered.
Don
finds his cane, and changes to Thor, and proceeds to disarm several of the
attackers. The
Ngare open fire on
Thor, but to no effect as he just stands
there. It's now his turn as he hurls
Mjolnir once again, taking them out.
The three guards are out of ammo, and are about to fight off the rest of the
attackers by hand, then the remaining
Ngare turn and run. They turn around
and discover that it was Thor they ran from, standing behind them.
Thor
asks them about them signing up, to which
Leo replies that it seemed like the
right thing to do and they all asked for
Umeme Mungu.
Thor asks what
Umeme Mungu means, and
Trevor tells him that it means "lightning god", and
Thor notes
that apparently, even for the gods, there is no such thing as coincidence.
Thor tells them that he could never fail to notice his friends courage and
hearts, and tells them to stand still. He then whirls
Mjolnir creating a
storm, transforming them into
Fandral,
Hogun, and
Volstagg - the
Warriors Three!
The four of them plan to go after the rest of the
Ngare,
but
Ibo Abua tells them
no, that Africa's problems should be solved by Africa, not outsiders. His
hope is that other nations can find ways to help keep them apart while they try
to find ways to live together, which gives
Thor an idea. He says that he
is the son of Odin, but also the son of
Gaea, and rarely calls upon that aspect
of himself, but he does so now. Using
Mjolnir, he creates a giant chasm in
the earth separating the two tribes, for which
Ibo is grateful. Back in
Asgard, the
Warriors Three note how quiet it is and doesn't seem right.
Hogun noticed
Thor's reluctance to restore them right away, and
Thor agrees.
He's treading cautiously so as not to restore certain other
Asgardians, which
they will not name out loud. But they must hurry the quest because they do
not know what will happen if a human host dies with an
Asgardian still within
them. He asks
Heimdall if he can help him locate others, and he says he
can.

Thor #5
January 2008
"Special Delivery"Writer:
J. Michael Straczynski
Pencils: Olivier Coipel
Inker: Mark Morales
Letters: Chris Eliopoulos
Colors: Laura Martin & Paul Mounts
Appearances:
Heimdall,
Destroyer,
Don
Blake, Balder,
Loki,
Hela,
Frost Giant,
Enchantress,
Dr Doom, Volstagg,
Beth
Sooner
Synopsis: Just
outside of Asgard,
the mailman installs a mailbox for them and labels it
Asgard, 1 Asgard
Rd, and then puts a letter in for them. It's an invitation from
the townsfolk to a town meeting at the
Broxton Town Hall. Back inside,
Thor goes to
Heimdall,
who tells him that there is still no trace of
Sif, and worse still, the essences he
has been detecting have begun to vanish from his site, and there is a
growing darkness in the desert between Nevada and New Mexico.
Thor
immediately flies there where he finds an old fallout bunker, and
trapped inside are dozens of people. They tell
Thor that him,
or it, has kidnapped them from all over the world and brought them
there. Then a raven-haired woman in a wedding dress says she knows
him, but before Thor
can free them, thundering steps come down the hallway - The
Destroyer.
Inside himself, Thor
and
Don discuss how
this is possible and why. It appears that the
Destroyer
intends to kill the hosts so that no new
Asgardians are reborn.
Thor attacks
him anew, driving him outside and away from the others. The
Destroyer
then speaks saying that he is not the
Destroyer,
Thor is, and
for that, he must die.
Thor has a plan to free all the
Asgardians
at once from their shells, and then that small army can stop the
Destroyer.
Thor flies into
the skies and unleashes his lightning. In doing so, he not only
frees the Asgardians,
but frees the spirit inhabiting the
Destroyer -
Balder
the Brave.
Balder tells him that he raged against
the destruction of
Asgard, angry with himself for failing
to protect it from the final
Ragnarok. After death, something
sensed his rage and pulled him into the
Destroyer
where he began collecting the
Asgardian hosts until
Thor freed him.
Thor is baffled
by another puzzle though, where are the
Asgardians he freed? He goes back
below where one of the people tell him that they all left except for
one, the one that came out of the female that said she knew
Thor.
Thor goes to
her and asks Sif
to turn around so that her face can shine upon him again. She
replies that she takes great comfort in his words, but she is not
Sif. She
turns around revealing
Loki, who is now a
woman.
Loki
tells him that it should be no surprise since she is not a child of
Asgard,
but of Giants. She goes on to say that it is a new start for them
and destiny has been fulfilled.
Thor tells her that she will get this
one chance.
Loki reflects upon her conversation with
Doctor Doom about the plan to free those
Asgardians of their choice. With
Thor distracted
by the
Destroyer, he will work to free as many
Asgardians
as quickly as possible with them all in one place threatened by the
Destroyer,
without considering who he is setting free, and Doom is in
agreement. We then see
Hela, a
Frost Giant,
and the
Enchantress looking out upon different
vistas of the Earth. Back in Oklahoma,
Volstagg
and some of the
Asgardians arrive at the town meeting, saying that there is
little that cannot be made gladder by cake.
Significant Events:
Return of the
Destroyer, return of
Balder,
return of
Loki,
return of
Hela,
return of
Frost Giants,
return of the
Enchantress |

Thor #6
February 2008
"Wandering Gods"Writer:
J. Michael Straczynski
Pencils: Olivier Coipel
Inker: Mark Morales
Letters: Chris Eliopoulos
Colors: Laura Martin
Appearances: Heimdall,
Don Blake,
Bill Junior,
Mayor Cletus,
Volstagg,
Jim,
Steve,
Hogun,
Kelda,
Dave,
Loki
Synopsis: In
Bill's
Diner, the local townsfolk are discussing their interactions so far with the
Asgardians.
Volstagg and several
Asgardians attended the town meeting held by
Mayor Cletus where sanitation issues were discussed, including the
Asgardians
preference of hurling the waste over the walls.
Jim and
Steve recount their
meeting Hogun while fixing a flat. He was walking back from Texas carrying a
couple of wild boars that he had killed bare-handed. Since their jack was
broken, Hogun lifted up the vehicle to
Jim could change the tire.
Steve seemed
particularly impressed and has began studying the Norse myths.
Bill Junior is then
pressed to tell his story. He was out walking late one night because he couldn't
sleep, and met Kelda, a beautiful Asgardian goddess out walking and enjoying the
night air as well.
Bill seemed struck dumb by her beauty, and began telling her
his name as well as the history of his family, all named
Bill. She told him that
it is a fine name, for William. She knew a William III, who was a king. She also
appeared attracted to
Bill. Before she left, he asked her what it's like living
up there in Asgard. She said it's an interesting question, since they spend a
lot of time looking over the walls and wondering what it's like to live down
there. Since she has satisfied her curiosity, she invites him up to satisfy his
some time. The locals poke a little fun at
Bill, saying it sounds like he's in
love. But he feels that she's way above him, saying that his dad had a saying;
"A bird can love a fish, but where would they build a house together?"
Blake has
the answer - on the edge of the river, which seems to perk
Bill up a bit.
Blake
then has a "discussion" with
Thor about what to do.
Thor is reluctant to release
all the Asgardians, which would also mean restoring
Odin. And
Odin would want to
cling to the old ways, whereas Thor is trying to forge a new future for the
Asgardians. But
Blake convinces him, because more and more mortal hosts are
going to die or be killed as the days go on, resulting in the Asgardian inside
being lost forever. He transforms into
Thor and flies high into the sky, into a
low orbit over the Earth. In
Asgard,
Loki is delighted as this appears to be
exactly what she wants. Volstagg asks Heimdall what it is that he sees, to which
Heimdall replies, the future.
Thor unleashes a massive lightning storm that
encompasses the entire Earth. We then see lightning strike multiple areas around
the world, unleashing the Asgardians from within their hosts. This completely
overwhelms Thor, and he tells
Blake to find
Sif and tell her of his love for
her. He then falls to Earth, creating a crater.
Significant Events:
1st appearance of
Mayor Cletus, 1st appearance of
Jim,
1st appearance of
Steve, 1st appearance of

Fandral,
Falki,

Odin,
Surtur,
Bor,
Bestla,
Frost Giant,

Synopsis:
Balder and
Hogun help a severely weakened
Thor into his chambers in
Asgard, and
they have sent Fandral to summon
Falki.
Falki has brought the
Odincasket, and explains the details to them. How like mortals will
sometimes induce a coma in a patient to help them heal, the
Odincasket
will do the same for Thor.
Thor shuts himself in, leaving
Balder in
charge while he rests. Balder looks up, only to see
Don Blake standing
before him.
Blake tells him that he hears what
Thor hears, and
vice-versa, he understands the purpose of the
Odincasket, and explains
the physicist's theory of
Schroedinger's Cat. Since
Thor is between life
and death, his sudden appearance would imply that when
Thor does die,
Blake will be on his own again, and he promptly leaves
Asgard. Inside
the Odincasket,
Thor dreams of
Hugin and
Munin, who speak to him and
tell him how he is faring since he has his father's bed, power, and
crown, and has never attempted to resurrect
Odin. They ask him why the
sounds of combat coming from over the hill sound so familiar, and he
heads towards it. In the outside world,
Blake buys a plane ticket to New
York, while speaking to a mysterious someone who can help him fine
someone - Jane Foster. Back in the between world,
Thor comes across
Odin
fighting Surtur.
Odin emerges triumphant, but is badly wounded.
Thor
speaks to him, and says that he can bring him back, but
Odin tells him
that if he was going to do that, he would have done it already.
Odin
tells him that in order for the gods to be who they are, they must kill
their fathers, and begins to tell him a story. He tells
Thor of his
youth, and fighting in battle with his father
Bor. He walks in
Midgard
before mortals existed, and thought it empty, so he breathed life into
man, and his father was ill-pleased. To punish
Odin, he visited upon the
mortal race every suffering, every pain, every curse within his power to
bring. After a time, another war came with the enemies of
Asgard, and
Bor pursed a
Frost Giant, only to find a trap with a powerful
sorcerer
waiting for him. By the time
Odin caught up to him, the curse was
already done, and
Bor was turned into living snow, and was slowly being
blown away. With his last breath,
Bor told
Odin to find the most
powerful sorcerers he could find and restore him. But he did not,
because he was in the way. On that day,
Odin became king and could make
plans as he chose. After a time,
Thor was born, and
Frigga pointed out
that Thor had
Bor's eyes, and
Odin knew in that moment that destiny
would come full circle.

slew
Laufey and adopted

Bor’s
curse, because he knew the serpent he had taken into his own fold. In
New York,
Don Blake searches out
Jane Foster
in the hopes that she is somehow the host to
Sif and is unknowingly keeping her from
returning. Jane
tells him that six months ago, she filed for divorce from
Keith, because she had heard that he had returned. When
Don
tells her the reason for his visit, she is visibly upset and slaps him.
She had hoped that he had come there for her and not for
Sif. Back in
the nameless realm, Thor
undoes Bor’s

Odin his freedom, but he declines. He has decided that he
will stay there and fight
Surtur every day, so that his evil will

that very much, and they part ways. Inside

herself in the mirror to see how pretty she is, and it’s
Sif’s reflection
in the mirror, and
Nurse Little has changed into

Balder follows her into
her chambers and asks further about the
Frost Giants. She offers to send
him to them in the Rocky Mountains, and gives him a ring that will return him to
Asgard, all he has to do is whisper her name to it. Elsewhere,
Volstagg
asks
Heimdall about the Avengers, thinking he might do well in this world
seeking out adventurers equal to himself, to which
Heimdall mocks him for even
listening to
Loki's words. Just then,
Bill Jr arrives asking if
Kelda is
in. In the Rocky Mountains,
Balder is hunting for the
Frost Giants,
reminiscing on his past and his purpose. His constant vigilance against
his death which would herald
Ragnarok, and now that it has come and gone, what
is his purpose? Watching him hunt is a
Frost Giant, with
Loki telling him
that he will be easy prey, just wait for her signal. Back in
Asgard,
Kelda
is delighted to see
Bill, who has also brought her some flowers that he has
picked. She says that she cannot wait, and wants him to throw the flowers
up to her, he tries but they never go very high. Finally he ties a rock to
the stems of them, and succeeds in throwing them up to her, promptly hitting her
in the face. In the Rocky Mountains, a trio of
Frost Giants comes across a
father and son, dealing with their overheated car. As they prepare to
strike them down, they are saved by

When Balder was born,
Odin
was troubled by dreams and portents. Visions of

who tells him that

at the beginning of

But if he died before
