Synopsis:
Thor returns
Hercules to
Olympus, then leaves for
Asgard. On Earth,
Jane is on a bus
heading for any destination that is far away. Meanwhile,
Tana changes to
her normal form, and calls in that she is staking a claim. The
Rigellians
dispatch an inspection team to Earth. In
Asgard,
Thor waits for
Odin to
finish playing chess. Odin tells
Thor that he shall deny his love of
Jane
no longer, there are conditions to be met first, but they may be wed.
Thor
returns to Earth to tell Jane the good news. When he arrives at her
apartment, a bolt of force keeps him from entering.
Thor crashes through
the wall and confronts the inspection team. The
Rigellians use a mind
thrust to bring Thor down to his knees.
Tana then tells
Thor how she will
prove her power. They then shoot
Thor with a
proton coagulant ray.
The inspection team then takes Thor back with them, while
Tana now controls the
planet. After they leave, Thor breaks out of his cage and begins to attack
the Colonizers, and knocks them out. He then lets the ship continue on
autopilot to Rigel.

Synopsis:
Thor has
arrived at the outskirts of Rigel and is met by an outpost team. On Earth,
Tana has an
unbelieving policeman take her to the U.N., but instead he takes her
to the police station. The
Rigellians unleash the
Indestructible against
Thor.
Thor turns it's beam back against itself, defeating it.
Thor
then forces the Rigellians to continue towards Rigel. But before
Thor can
destroy the Space Lock, he is stopped by the
Grand Commissioner. The
Grand
Commissioner tells Thor that only he can stop the menace of the
Black Galaxy, a
menace that threatens Earth too.
Thor agrees and he will be accompanied by
a Recorder to record everything that happens. On Earth,
Jane is on a plane
heading to an unknown destination, and meets a
strange passenger.
Thor and
the Recorder have entered the
Black Galaxy and discover that it is actually a
bioverse, and then they are confronted by
Ego, the Living Planet.

Synopsis:
Thor and the
Recorder meet
Ego.
Ego fashions a body for himself so that he may speak
with them more easily. He tells them that he has been in the
Black Galaxy
forever, and now it's time for him to conquer all of space. Back on Earth,
Jane is having dinner with the man from the plane,
Porgia. He tells her
that they are looking for a very special person, and he is only waiting on
Tagar
to tell her more.
Tagar tells her they are looking for a teacher, but when
he discovers that she's a nurse, that's even better. She tells him no, but
he will not accept that answer. Back on
Ego, he tells
Thor that he plans
to send out human form copies of himself to conquer all, and that beating
Thor
will be the ultimate test.
Ego then creates antibodies to attack
Thor and
Recorder. Back on Earth,
Tana Nile calls in to activate the
space lock,
but her request is denied by order of the
Grand Commissioner.
Ego
continues attacking Thor and
Recorder until
Thor causes a universe shaking
thermo blast, freeing them.
Ego then swears that he shall cut himself off
from the rest of the universe.

Synopsis:
Thor and
Recorder have returned to a
Rigellian ship, when a strange energy surge is
flying towards them. They jump to warp and get out of the way, unknowing
that it was Galactus' ship they almost collided with.
Galactus has
detected abundant life energy within the
Black Galaxy. Back on Earth,
Tana
is taken into custody by the
Rigellians, who also give
Thor the
means to find
Jane.
Tana is informed that her next assignment is to be the wife of the
Grand Commissioner. Elsewhere,
Jane is riding with
Tagar and
Porgia back
to Wundagore Mountain when they are attacked by bandits, after the rumored
wealth of the mountain. Thor, using the
device, locates
Wundagore, and
comes across what's left of the bandits, who are all in shock.
Thor flies
on and is ambushed by the
Knights of Wundagore.
Thor does not resist and
is taken inside. Thor then fights his way free and the
New Men decide to
remove his bonds. They then take off their helmets and
Thor is shocked by
what he sees. Inside the Genetic Chamber the
High Evolutionary is
experimenting on a wolf, when he is interrupted by his New Men trying to stop
Thor from entering.
High Evolutionary tells
Thor he doesn't have time for
nonsense and that Jane is in wing 2.
Thor bursts through the door, only to
see Jane teaching a class of
New Men - evolved animals. But due to
Thor's
distraction, the High Evolutionary left the wolf unattended for too long, giving
birth to the Man-Beast.

"The Maddening Menace of the Super-Beast!"
Tales of Asgard - "The Fiery Breath of Fafnir!"

Significant Events: Origin of High Evolutionary
Synopsis: The
Man-Beast has emerged, the ultimate evolution of man combined with the ultimate
evolution of the wolf. The
High Evolutionary uses a super dog whistle to
drive the Man-Beast off. The
Man-Beast escapes into the Genetic Chamber
and seals himself in. With access to the evolutionary ray, he could create
his own army of evil New Men.
High Evolutionary activates a device to draw
the Man-Beast out, but it's too late. An army of evil
New Men attack.
Count Tagar rallies the
Knights to counter attack. The
Man-Beast
challenges Thor directly, but he is no match for the God of Thunder, and is
defeated, along with his evil army.
High Evolutionary puts the
Man-Beast
and his army in a shuttle and launches them to the
Dromisana Galaxy where they
may form their own society.
High Evolutionary then tells
Thor that it's
time to leave. Thor and
Jane leave, and
Mount Wundagore crumbles apart to
reveal a ship, which launches towards the stars.

Synopsis:
Thor takes
Jane to
Asgard to meet
Odin. When they arrive they first meet a group of
warriors with a captured
Troll and
Heimdall.
Jane is frightened and
startled by the strange sights that greet her. She then meets
Odin and he
transforms her into a goddess and grants her the gift of flight. She flies
around, but falters and falls when she begins to doubt that it's real.
Odin
then deigns to test Jane and orders his men to summon
the Unknown.
Jane is
locked in a chamber with
the Unknown.
Jane gives into her blind terror and
cries out to Thor.
Thor breaks in and drives the
Unknown off.
Jane
tells them that she refuses to stay in this place of madness.
Odin agrees
and transports her back to Earth. In his grief,
Thor rages against
Odin.
Odin puts him in his place.
Odin then relents, and orders
Thor to
Gundershelm to guard the
Glade of Crystals from the
Unknown, which is now loose.
Odin instantly transports
Thor there, but he is too late to stop a
Troll from
summoning the Unknown. Back on Earth,
Jane has appeared in a hospital
somewhere on the west coast. There, she has no memory of
Thor or
Don
Blake, and she begins working for
Dr Keith Kincaid.
Thor, being heartsick,
is not focusing on the battle, and doesn't have the will to win. Just
then, someone else strikes at the
Unknown, telling
Thor to get up and fight or
both their lives are forfeit. They defeat the beast and
Thor finally sees
who helped him - it is the lady Sif. They walk off hand in hand as
Odin
had hoped.

"The Thunder God and the Troll!"
Tales of Asgard - "The Tragedy of Hogun!"

Significant Events: 1st appearance of Ulik
Synopsis:
Thor and
Sif
are playing at spears when they are attacked by
Trolls. While
Thor is
under a relentless barrage, Sif is captured and taken underground.
Thor
follows, but is confronted by Ulik, mightiest of all
Rock Trolls.
Meanwhile, Sif is taken to
Geirrodur, who decides to use her as bait for
Thor on
Earth. Thor and
Ulik battle back and forth, destroying the landscape
around them. Just as Ulik is about to deliver a devastating blow, he
disappears in a flash of light.
Geirrodur reveals that it was him.
He has sent Ulik to Earth, there to kill
Sif. He tells
Thor that he can
fly to Sif's rescue and leave
Asgard open to attack, or stay to defend
Asgard
and Sif dies.
Thor goes to
Sif. While
Thor begins to search for her,
the Trolls begin their attack.

"The Flames of Battle!"
Tales of Asgard - "The Quest of the Mystic Mountain!"

Significant Events: 1st appearance of Orikal
Synopsis: Thor has arrived on Earth, and changes to Blake so that he can search unhampered. The Trolls pull him through the ground and grab his cane away from him, they have captured Mjolnir. Blake tricks them into striking the cane on the ground and touches it just as it does and changes to Thor. In Asgard, the Trolls, aided by Orikal, advance on every front. Thor manages to knock away all the Trolls and sets down his hammer to inspect Sif's prison. The Trolls use the Orb of Orikal to capture Mjolnir. They then flee back to Asgard, leaving Thor and Sif trapped on Earth. The fateful 60 seconds count down while Odin himself is under attack.

Significant Events: nothing really, but in what has to be an artistic error, Ulik is shown carrying around Mjolnir.
Synopsis:
Sif, as a
goddess, has the power to transport them back to
Asgard. Once there,
Thor
does not transform back to
Blake at all.
Thor and
Sif arrive in the
domain
of the Trolls. They come across the strange weapons provided by
Orikal
with which the Trolls are on the verge of triumph. Using the power of
Orikal, the
Trolls have duplicated
Mjolnir.
Thor calls his
hammer to him,
but Ulik possesses the duplicate.
Thor holds him off while
Sif fights at
his back. Geirrodur orders
Orikal to attack.
Thor crashes through a
wall, uncovering Orikal.
Ulik crashes in and, jealous of
Orikal's favored
status in the eyes of Geirrodur, attempts to slay him.
Thor stops him, and
frees Orikal from the flames that held him prisoner.
Orikal returns to his
own universe, rendering the weapons he provided useless.
Thor orders
Geirrodur to surrender and recall his army, and without
Orikal and
Ulik, he has
no choice.

"The Growing Man"

Significant Events: 1st appearance of Growing Man
Synopsis: Thier victory over the Trolls assured, Thor returns to Earth. There, scientists have discovered a man the size of a doll. When they look on him again, he has grown to full human size. The robot has awakened and begins attacking, but each bullet shell striking it, it grows larger. He keeps growing larger, as he tears apart his surroundings, calling out for his master to appear. Thor has arrived on Earth and changes back to Blake and returns to his offices. Meanwhile, the police are hunting the Growing Man, when a strange beam strikes him and he shrinks back to doll size, where his master, Kang, picks him up. The police are taking Blake there, in case they need him to contact Thor. Blake lags behind, then changes to Thor. When he arrives on the scene, he begins attacking the Growing Man, which just causes him to get larger. Kang attacks Thor from behind, temporarily stunning him. Kang retrieves his once again doll-sized weapon and leaves to the future.
