Fantastic Four
(1996) "To Battle the Living Planet"
The Fantastic Four are in
their headquarters, when they detect a flaming object hurtling towards Earth. When
it smashes into their building, they see that it is Mjolnir, the hammer of Thor. As
it rises and starts to return to the Thunder God, the quartet get in their ship and follow
it. They come across Thor floating in space, helpless. They follow an energy
trail, only to discover Ego, the Living Planet, heading straight for Earth. They
battle Ego, only to be drawn down to the planets surface. Thor then awakens and
helps them free themselves, and tells them of how he came there. They discover giant
engines that are pushing Ego and decide that to destroy them, they have to go to the being
who put them there, Galactus. They persuade Galactus to help them. While
Galactus is battling Ego, the FF attach machines from Galactus' ship to Mjolnir, and send
a powerful energy wave through Galactus, and into Ego, defeating him. The only
problem is, to get Galactus to help them, Reed Richards had to free Galactus from his vow
to never devour the Earth.
