History (From the files of Tony Stark): My first real interaction with the original Thor was at the first Avengers meeting I hosted years ago. As a man of science, I initially doubted Thor’s claims of godhood – but I never doubted his inherent powers and I suspected that the day would eventually come when his services would no longer be available to us. As such, during that first meeting of the Avengers, I secretly obtained a single strand of Thor’s hair, realizing that modern science would one day progress to the point where we could use this genetic material to clone the Thunder God. Over the years, he proved to be a loyal friend and a warrior born.
I first learned of Thor’s demise from the Olympian god Hercules during the memorial service held for the Avengers who fell as a result of the Scarlet Witch’s mental breakdown. With my electrical engineering skills’ Pym’s expertise in biochemistry, and Richard’s aptitude in all sciences, creating and artificially aging the clone was easier than expected. Our Thor clone, dubbed “Codename Lightning” by SHIELD, was sent into live combat the night that we trapped Captain America’s Secret Avengers at the Geffen-Meyer Chemicals facility. As soon as he was deployed, the clone exhibited over-aggression and explicitly disobeyed his directives prohibiting deadly force. Before the night was over, Goliath (Bill Foster) was dead at the hands of the clone and more casualties were imminent if not for the timely intervention of Invisible Woman (Susan Richards). We later worked out many of the flaws in Thor’s programming and let him loose during the final battle against Captain America in Midtown Manhattan, but he once again disobeyed his programmed protocols by attack Storm (Queen Ororo of Wakanda) and destroying the Wakandan Embassy. After Storm weakened him with an electromagnetic pulse to his brain, he was destroyed when the Greek god Hercules smashed through his head using his own hammer. The remnants of the cybernetic Thor clone have been sent to Camp Hammond in Stamford, Connecticut where our team of scientists will determine whether he can be salvaged.
Powers & Abilities: Cloned from Asgardian DNA, Thor possesses superhuman Class 100 strength, speed, agility, and reflexes, as well as godlike stamina and durability. He possesses an extremely long lifespan and immunity to all Earthly diseases. Cybernetic technology has been spliced into his DNA to enable us to shut down his motor functions in emergency situations.
Paraphernalia: Thor wields a hammer which uses cybernetic technology in an attempt to recreate the powers of Mjolnir, the enchanted Uru hammer of Asgardian lore. The hammer contains a homing device that enables it to return to the exact spot from which it was thrown, a gravity-polarization device that allows its wielder to neutralize gravity’s effect on his mass, and allows the bearer to channel the elements of storm and project powerful blasts of electrical energy.
