Origin: When Cain Marko, the son of an atomic researcher, was barely out of infancy, his parents were separated and he was raised by his father until he was old enough to be sent away to a military academy. Growing up to be a cruel and spiteful young man, Marko returned to live with his father after his father remarried the wife of a colleague of his who died in an industrial accident. Marko took an instant dislike to his younger step-brother, Charles Xavier, and was abusive to him at every opportunity. Getting into a disagreement with his father over money, Marko upset some explosive chemicals and caused a fire to engulf his father's home laboratory. Though his father managed to rescue his son and step-son from the fire, he died of smoke inhalation. Marko continued to live in his step-mother's house, growing increasingly jealous of young Xavier's scholastic and athletic achievements. Once, when Xavier naively agreed to let Marko drive him to college, Marko drove so recklessly in an attempt to scare Xavier, that he ran off the edge of a cliff. Using his nascent psionic powers, Xavier managed to save them. Enlisting in the military, Marko was in Asia when he discovered a cave that housed the lost secret temple of Cyttorak, a powerful mystical entity. Marko impulsively grabbed a glowing ruby from the lap of an idol and read the inscription: "Whosoever touches this gem shall possess the power of the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak. Henceforth, you who read these words shall become forever more a human juggernaut." As Marko was transformed by the mystic power of the gem, he was buried under several thousand tons of rock when enemy high-explosive bombardment caused a cave-in. Eventually digging himself free with his newfound power, Marko the Juggernaut returned to America to plague the life of his step-brother Charles Xavier and his proteges, the X-Men.
